EVENT 3 : The Getty Center

The Getty Center had a large range of exhibitions with various forms and mediums for art, including paintings, sculptures and photographs. The exhibition that most emulated the ideas we are focusing in this course was called, Light, Paper, Process: Reinventing Photography.  The works of seven different artists were on display, all of which explored different ways in which we could challenge the norms of photography. The artists played with the camera technologies and the chemical processing of photographic paper.  Lisa Oppenheim's featured work, Heliograms, displayed various images of the moon at different stages in the lunar cycle. The photos showed the immense beauty from our surrounding solar system as well as the vast possibilities of photographic technologies. All of the artists displayed the imaginative and inventive spirits of which this course is designed to explore.
